Campers and motorhomes

Wheels built for the weight of a camper or motorhome

Campers and motorhomes are a big part of what we fit. Pick your van and you'll only ever see wheels rated for it - never one your van can't carry.

Load rating

Why load rating matters on a heavy camper

A coachbuilt motorhome or a self-build campervan runs closer to its maximum weight than almost any other van we fit - habitation furniture, water, gas and everything you're carrying all sits on the same four wheels. A wheel rated below your van's actual axle weight is a real safety and MOT risk, not a technicality.

Your axle weights are on the manufacturer's plate, usually in the driver's door frame or under the bonnet. The last two lines are usually the maximum for the front axle (1) and the rear axle (2).

Turn on JavaScript to check your own axle weights against a Rogue wheel's load rating.

Enter both axle maximums to see the load rating your wheels need.

Each wheel's share = its axle maximum ÷ 2. The rating you need is the larger of the two.

Rogue wheels are rated from 1,000 kg to 2,000 kg each, and once your van is set we only show you the ones rated for it. Planning to up-plate? Tell us when you order, so we can make sure the load rating on your wheels is enough. We check your axle ratings on every order anyway.

Camper tyres

All-terrain or all-season?

All-terrain is what most of our camper and motorhome customers choose, and the General AT3 is the single tyre we fit most. It suits a van that leaves the tarmac - a green lane to a wild camp, a farm track, a ferry slipway - without giving up much on the road. BFGoodrich All-Terrain and Comforser CF1100 are the other two we fit often in this class.

All-season suits a camper that mostly stays on the road but wants real confidence in UK winter weather without swapping tyres twice a year. Falken's Van Allseason and Michelin's CrossClimate and Camping lines are the ones we stock for that.

Either way, the tyre size and load rating are set from your van, never left for you to guess: pick your van and every wheel you see already carries a tyre rated for it.

Camper and motorhome questions

Will a bigger wheel affect my motorhome's payload?

The wheel itself won't change your van's plated weight, but the wheel's own load rating has to clear your axle weights with room to spare. Use the load check above: it halves your plate's axle weights to a per-wheel figure, and once you've picked your van we only show wheels rated for it.

Do I need different tyres for a motorhome than for a work van?

Not necessarily the same tyre, but the same discipline: the load rating and size come from your van, not from what looks right. Most camper and motorhome customers choose an all-terrain for the odd green lane or farm track; an all-season suits a camper that stays mostly on the road. See "All-terrain or all-season?" above.

Can Rogue wheels handle a fully-loaded coachbuilt motorhome?

Our wheels are rated from 1,000 kg to 2,000 kg each, and once your van is set we only show you the ones rated for it - the heavier Sevel-based motorhomes (Ducato, Relay, Boxer Maxi Heavy) are exactly why that range goes as high as it does.

Will a different wheel or tyre change my speedo reading?

It can, if the new tyre's overall diameter differs from the one it replaces. Use the tyre size and speedo calculator on our Info page to check before you order.

Do you fit motorhomes as well as vans?

Yes, we fit campervans, vans and motorhomes, and the Sevel-based motorhomes (Ducato, Relay, Boxer) are among the vans we fit most.
