How to clean alloy wheels and keep them rated

How to clean alloy wheels, re-torque them correctly and keep every wheel we fit rated for the job, in one place.

Aftercare

Check the torque after 30 miles

All wheels must be fitted with a professional torque wrench, tightened to the correct torque specification. Check and re-torque your wheel bolts or nuts after the first 30 miles of driving to make sure they're still correctly secured.

We supply new bolts (or nuts), locking bolts (or nuts) and a locking key with every fitting. Keep the key safe: a replacement is tricky to get hold of.

Cleaning

Use a pH-neutral cleaner, nothing else

Most wheel cleaners do more harm than good. Acidic and alkaline cleaners corrode both the wheel and the bolt or nut. Use a pH-neutral cleaner only.

We make our own, Rogue Alloy Rinse, at pH7.2. Spray it on, leave it for 30 seconds, then rinse off. Never use it on a hot wheel.
